Men In The Old Testament Tried To Be Close To God By The Works Of The Law. 

Philippians 3:3

For We Are The Circumcision, Which Worship God In The Spirit, And Rejoice In Christ Jesus, And Have No Confidence In The Flesh.

John 4:23-24 

But The Hour Cometh, And Now Is, When The True Worshippers Shall Worship The Father In Spirit And In Truth: For The Father Seeketh Such To Worship Him. God Is A Spirit: And They That Worship Him Must Worship Him In Spirit And In Truth.

John 14:17 

Even The Spirit Of Truth; Whom The World Cannot Receive, Because It Seeth Him Not, Neither Knoweth Him: But Ye Know Him; For He Dwelleth With You, And Shall Be In You.

Romans 8:9 

But Ye Are Not In The Flesh, But In The Spirit, If So Be That The Spirit Of God Dwell In You. Now If Any Man Have Not The Spirit Of Christ, He Is None Of His.

John 3:6

That Which Is Born Of The Flesh Is Flesh; And THAT WHICH IS BORN OF THE SPIRIT IS SPIRIT.

Don't Ever Let Anyone Tell You That You Are, Flesh And Spirit, When The Lord, Tells Us Himself, We Are Spirit!
